“They won’t even get a transfer—just a goodbye.”

It’s the kind of ending no agent sees coming — not in the middle of a case, not at the height of transition, not when there’s still more story left to tell. But FBI: International, the second spin-off in the franchise, is coming to a full stop. And this time, there’s no last-minute call from the Bureau to save the day.

CBS has confirmed the cancellation of FBI: International, with its final episode airing on May 13, 2025. After four seasons of globe-trotting suspense, shifting leadership, and borderless danger, the show will go dark — permanently.

It began in 2021 with a sleek and compelling premise: a tactical team based in Europe, led by cast members Luke Kleintank, Heida Reed, Carter Redwood, Vinessa Vidotto, and Christiane Paul. From tracking arms dealers in Prague to intercepting human traffickers across the Adriatic, the Fly Team became the franchise’s most mobile unit — and arguably its most visually ambitious.

But behind the camera, the winds began to shift.

When original star Luke Kleintank departed at the end of Season 3, Chicago P.D. alum Jesse Lee Soffer stepped in to helm the team. His arrival sparked a renewed sense of energy — and curiosity from long-time Dick Wolf fans — but it wasn’t enough to extend the show’s life.

The team’s swan song will unfold across Europe in spring 2025, with no plans for rescue, spin-off continuations, or streaming pickups. CBS and Wolf Entertainment have chosen not to shop the show around to other platforms. This isn’t a temporary pause — it’s a shutdown.

Eva-Jane Willis, who portrayed Europol liaison Megan “Smitty” Garretson, confirmed the bittersweet news with heartfelt gratitude:

“Of course I’m sad the show must come to an end, but I want to thank Wolf Entertainment and CBS for everything — in particular, the incredible tour of Europe. We have memories to last us a lifetime.”

Indeed, those memories are embedded in the series’ DNA: moonlit chases through Berlin’s alleyways, tactical assaults in Budapest, tense negotiations in Paris, and tear-streaked interrogations on the cobbled streets of Warsaw. The team fought for justice with limited jurisdiction and no backup — a dynamic that set International apart from its New York-based predecessors.

The decision not to continue feels abrupt, especially given the unresolved narrative arcs left behind.

What will happen to Special Agent Andre Raines (Carter Redwood), whose relationship with street informants and diplomatic channels became increasingly fragile? What of Vo (Vinessa Vidotto), still recovering from the trauma of her partner’s death in Season 3? And what future lies ahead for Smitty — a woman who brokered peace between intelligence agencies while carrying her own quiet heartbreak?

FBI' Shows Renewed for Two New Seasons Each

Even the late-series leadership shift brought new possibilities. Soffer’s character — shrouded in mystery and leadership potential — had only just begun to gel with the team. The chemistry was raw, the tension promising. But time has run out.

The show’s abrupt end mirrors the kind of missions it often portrayed: no backup, limited time, and an emotional cost. There’s no grand send-off in sight — only a date on the calendar and a looming sense of unfinished business.

It’s also a blow to the franchise as a whole.

While FBI (the original) and Most Wanted continue to anchor the CBS lineup, the decision to cancel International signals a narrowing scope. The closure hints at shifting budgets, evolving strategies, and the challenges of maintaining multiple global productions in a competitive market.

But fans aren’t ready to say goodbye. Not yet.

Social media has already erupted with petitions, theories, and pleas to save the show:

“They barely scratched the surface with Jesse’s character. We were just getting started.”
“International had the most diverse and unique dynamics. Why not give it one more season?”
“I can’t believe Smitty doesn’t get a proper ending. She deserved more than this.”

And while the cries may fall on deaf ears, they highlight what FBI: International truly accomplished: a passionate following, a sense of urgency, and characters who transcended time zones and language barriers.

There may not be a dramatic explosion in the final scene. No cliffhanger that gets resolved next fall. But there will be emotion. Because this isn’t just the end of a mission. It’s the end of a team that never stayed in one place long enough to say goodbye — until now.

So when May 13 arrives, one thing is certain: fans will be watching. Not for justice. Not for closure. But for one last look at a team that ran toward danger — no matter what flag flew over their heads.

And maybe, just maybe, someone at CBS will feel the weight of what they chose to let go.
